PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Fremont (ranked 5227 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mbawa Untempko (ranked 5307 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Fremont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mbawa Untempko!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fremont is looking to clinch but Untempko is avoiding it.

Untempko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Untempko showed some decent athleticism there.
Fremont is trying to escape back to his feet but Untempko uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Untempko working the ground and pound but Fremont is defending the strikes.

Untempko is trying to get an arm triangle but Fremont is defending well.
Untempko is working Fremont over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Untempko stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fremont tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Untempko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Untempko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fremont, pushing him back against the cage.

Fremont is looking to clinch.

Untempko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fremont tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Untempko is in Fremont's guard.
Fremont is looking to stand back up but Untempko counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Fremont.

Fremont pushes Untempko off looking to stand but Untempko dives back in and keeps control.
Untempko passes the guard and advances to mount!

Untempko has control of Fremont's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fremont regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Untempko breaks from Fremont's wrist control and lands an elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fremont is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Untempko is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fremont can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Untempko lands a big elbow.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Fremont wants to try and get back to his feet.
Fremont is trying to stand but he's just given Untempko his back.
Untempko is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
It looks like Untempko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Untempko lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Untempko.

Untempko is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Fremont wants to get back to his feet.
Fremont grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mbawa Untempko dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Untempko closes the distance and clinches.
Fremont misses with a punch to the body.

Fremont connects with a nasty looking knee right to Untempko's face.


It looks like Mbawa Untempko has been cut.

Untempko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fremont doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fremont manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fremont wants to stand but Untempko is controlling his posture from full guard.

Untempko has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fremont is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Untempko.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
What's Untempko going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Fremont wants to stand but Untempko has his arm trapped.
Untempko can't do much from the bottom here.

Untempko is pushing Fremont's head away, looking to escape. Fremont manages to hold on to the position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mbawa Untempko has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fremont is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Untempko manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Fremont keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Untempko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Danny Fremont is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Crunch! Untempko slams his shin into Fremont's torso.

Nice takedown defense from Fremont. No joy for Untempko on that attempt.
Fremont is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Danny Fremont seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Untempko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fremont did well to prevent Untempko getting side control.
Fremont tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Untempko manages to move to mount!
Untempko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Untempko is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fremont to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fremont shrugs it off.
Untempko fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Fremont is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Fremont trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Untempko cracks Fremont with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mbawa Untempko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Untempko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fremont sprawls well initially but Untempko persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Fremont shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
No joy there for Untempko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fremont is wriggling around but Untempko manages to pass to half guard.

Untempko drops an elbow to the side of Fremont's head.

Untempko's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Untempko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Untempko decides to stand back up.

Untempko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fremont did well to prevent Untempko getting side control.

Untempko looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Fremont is looking to escape.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Untempko seems to be working for a kimura but Fremont defends the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Untempko takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mbawa Untempko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Untempko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
