PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zuhong Lee (ranked 3818 p4p, 150 weight class) and Leonardo Yoshi (ranked 3040 p4p, 127 weight class). Leonardo Yoshi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zuhong Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Yoshi!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lee lands in his opponent's guard.

Yoshi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Yoshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Yoshi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Yoshi is retaining full guard.

Lee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yoshi looking for a sweep. Not yet Yoshi, not yet.
Lee throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yoshi is keeping the position for now.

Lee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yoshi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yoshi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yoshi!

Yoshi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Yoshi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yoshi is trying to get an arm triangle but Lee is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yoshi cracks Lee with a big elbow.

Yoshi has an Americana. Lee didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Yoshi is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Yoshi hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Leonardo Yoshi!
A relieved looking Leonardo Yoshi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
