Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lazy Bastard (ranked 1016 p4p, 122 weight class) and Feihck Tiote (ranked 1793 p4p, 209 weight class). Feihck Tiote has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastard throws an off balance right hand

and Tiote counters with a takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Bastard on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Tiote throws an elbow but Bastard slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bastard manages to get back to half guard.
Bastard is looking to escape.

Bastard wants to control but Tiote is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lazy Bastard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bastard throws a shot from downtown. Tiote moves away and avoids it.

Tiote takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Bastard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Bastard tries to bum rush Tiote with a series of wild strikes but Tiote uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tiote takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bastard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tiote takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lazy Bastard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bastard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tiote's guard.

and Tiote counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've been hearing good reports from Bastard's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Bastard throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bastard jabs Tiote to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Tiote looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bastard is fending him off so far but Tiote persists. Nope, Bastard circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bastard manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
