Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luther Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Albert Melton!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson connects with a nice looking jab.
Jackson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Melton shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Melton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Melton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Melton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Melton moves out of range of the strikes.
Melton tried to score with a low kick but Jackson checks it.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Melton. Melton gets slowly back to his feet.
Melton throws a chopping leg kick but Jackson manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Jackson throws a good cross that connects.

Jackson clinches up with Melton and pushes him back against the cage.
Jackson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Jackson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Melton ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Melton no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Melton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.
Jackson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson postures up in Melton's guard and throws a big left but Melton blocks it.

Melton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Melton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.

Melton is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Melton is retaining full guard.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Melton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Melton's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Melton isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jackson stacks Melton on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jackson!
Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Melton keeps working.
Melton tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Melton is looking for a sweep.
Melton manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Melton looking for submissions off his back.
Jackson prevents Melton from improving his position.
Jackson moves nicely into side control.
Jackson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Melton is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.
Melton managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jackson.
Melton is looking to reverse the position.
Jackson moves into full mount!
Melton can't escape the position.
Jackson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Jackson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Melton bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Melton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jackson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Melton, into his guard.

Jackson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Melton is looking for a triangle here but Jackson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Melton tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Jackson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Melton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Jackson closes the distance and pushes Melton back into the cage.

Melton wants to take the fight to the mat but Jackson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Jackson scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Jackson pushes Melton back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Melton tries to throw a body punch but Jackson avoids it by throwing Melton back against the cage.
Melton is breathing heavily.
Melton has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jackson after a bit of a struggle.
Jackson works on Melton's body with a couple of short punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jackson unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Melton! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Jackson is unloading with more strikes now! Melton drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
