And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Kivela!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aston just misses with a punch to the body.
Kivela changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Aston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kivela avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aston.

Kivela looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kivela is looking for a sweep. Aston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kivela preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kivela looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Aston slows the pace down in half guard.
Kivela has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aston is working away from the top position though.
Kivela is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Aston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kivela on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kivela trying to control but Aston postures up.
Aston is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Aston is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kivela has managed to free his arm - good work.
Aston content to control rather than advance.
Aston working the head and body with strikes.

The fighters are battling for position here. Kivela manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kivela has eaten all the pies!
Aston wants to control from the top but Kivela keeps moving.
Kivela has a closed guard, preventing Aston from standing up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kivela throws an overhand right that lands on Aston's shoulder, as Aston tries to avoid the shot.
Aston misses with a takedown attempt - Kivela sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kivela misses with a straight right.
Aston seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Aston closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kivela to the mat! Kivela manages to get full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kivela trying to control the position.

Kivela has his foot on Aston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aston works his way back into a safe position though.

Kivela looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kivela is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Aston trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kivela keeping moving, preventing Aston from controlling successfully.
Aston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kivela swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reece Aston dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kivela manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kivela manages to get to full guard.

Aston got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kivela has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aston has managed to get both his arms back between Kivela's legs - danger averted.

Kivela is looking for a triangle but Aston pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kivela is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Aston rolls with it to try and escape but Kivela cranks on the arm and Aston is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Daniel Kivela!
After winning the bout, Daniel Kivela thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
