PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Coleman (ranked 1540 p4p, 229 weight class) and Splinter Yoshi (ranked 1986 p4p, 281 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Phil Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Splinter Yoshi!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshi thows a body kick. Coleman tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Coleman jabs at Yoshi's body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Coleman. Yoshi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Coleman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Yoshi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Yoshi motions for Coleman to come forward. Yoshi throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Yoshi connects with a leg kick. Coleman looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Yoshi is looking to score with low kicks.

Coleman closes the distance and clinches.
Yoshi tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Coleman's elbow.
The referee is keeping an eye on Coleman - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

It looks like Phil Coleman has been cut.

Coleman tightens his grip and picks Yoshi up, before dumping him to the ground. Yoshi manages to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Coleman is working Yoshi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Coleman winds up and cracks Yoshi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Coleman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yoshi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Yoshi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Coleman defends it easily.

Coleman is in close to Yoshi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Yoshi is retaining full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Yoshi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Yoshi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Yoshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Coleman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Yoshi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Coleman has picked Yoshi up and slammed him! Yoshi can't keep hold of the triangle and Coleman manages to pass to side control!

Yoshi is trying to work for a sweep but Coleman has mounted him!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Coleman works Yoshi's body with a nice hook.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt - Yoshi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Coleman is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Yoshi throws out a leg kick but Coleman moves out of range and Yoshi only half commits.

Coleman has taken the fight to the clinch.
Yoshi doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Coleman blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Coleman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yoshi can do to turn this around?

Yoshi throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Coleman blocks it with crossed arms.

Yoshi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Coleman has a takedown stuffed.

Coleman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Yoshi.
Good work by Coleman as he checks the leg kick.

Coleman closes the distance but Yoshi moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Coleman drives through and clinches with Yoshi against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Coleman creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Yoshi tries to land knees in the clinch but Coleman avoids the damage to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coleman postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Yoshi in real trouble here! The ref calls for Yoshi to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Coleman!
Phil Coleman decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
