Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Hurley (ranked 5220 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spotlight Kid (ranked 3897 p4p, 0 weight class). Spotlight Kid is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kid.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kid cracks Hurley with a big elbow.
Hurley wants to control but Kid postures up.

Kid tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hurley really is a fat lump.

Kid is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hurley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kid lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hurley down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hurley tries to bench press Kid off him but Kid keeps the position.
Hurley really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kid feints and as Hurley raises his hands in defense, Kid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kid distracts Hurley with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kid wants to control from the top but Hurley keeps moving.
Hurley has control of Kid's left arm, preventing Kid from doing any damage.

Kid avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hurley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hurley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kid doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kid manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hurley is trying to keep Kid in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hurley shoots in but Kid avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kid has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hurley darts in looking for a takedown but Kid gets double underhooks and turns Hurley into the cage.

Kid drives through with a takedown into Hurley's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hurley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kid's guard.

Kid has Hurley pulled in close to control his posture.
Kid utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hurley is in close to Kid's body, working some short punches and elbows.

We've been informed that Kid has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Hurley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hurley lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Kid bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hurley's guard.

Hurley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kid is doing well to control the position and prevent Hurley from advancing to side control.
Hurley has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Kid works to full guard.
Kid is wriggling around but Hurley manages to pass to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kid is looking for a sweep. Hurley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
It looks like Hurley is going to stand back up.

Kid is breathing heavily.
Hurley slips a nice elbow through Kid's hands, connecting with Kid's forehead.
Hurley tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kid.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hurley throws a strike but Kid avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Hurley wants to control from the top but Kid keeps moving.
Kid has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kid is looking for a triangle but Hurley pushes his legs off easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hurley tries to clinch up but Kid circles away and keeps his distance.

Kid looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Spotlight Kid will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Hurley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kid closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hurley is trying to control Kid's posture but Kid avoids it.
Spotlight Kid has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hurley is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kid is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Kid tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hurley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kid is looking to take a break and control but Hurley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kid is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kid takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hurley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Kid closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
