Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Menezes (ranked 335 p4p, 44 weight class) and Tsukune Shiba (ranked 584 p4p, 79 weight class). Shiba is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Fall Out Boy - The Phoenix. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arthur Menezes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tsukune Shiba!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menezes fails with the takedown.
Menezes closes the distance but Shiba moves to the side
and Shiba counters with a nice uppercut.
Menezes slips under a jab from Shiba.
Menezes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shiba.

enabling Shiba to counter with a crisp jab.

Shiba ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Menezes moves away.

Menezes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Shiba defends well and Menezes ends up having to push Shiba into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Shiba is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shiba is pulling down on Menezes's head. It's preventing any offense from Menezes, at least for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shiba can do anything to dispel that myth.

Menezes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Menezes pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Shiba doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Menezes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shiba looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Menezes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shiba is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Menezes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Menezes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Menezes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shiba, who protects the arm well.

Shiba wants to control but Menezes postures up.

Menezes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shiba knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Menezes advances to mount.
Shiba stops Menezes from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Shiba really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Menezes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shiba can't escape the position.
Menezes is looking to work his way around to Shiba's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Menezes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shiba can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Menezes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shiba sees it coming and defends easily.

Tsukune Shiba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
