Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santiago Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Subicic!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie works the jab nicely.
Subicic throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Subicic takes the fight into the clinch.
Gracie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Subicic just stands there and leans against the cage.
Gracie jumps guard but Subicic stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Subicic's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Subicic wants to break free but Gracie has control.

Gracie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Subicic uses from the top position.

Gracie working for submissions but it's allowed Subicic to get to half guard.
Subicic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Subicic pulls his head out easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Subicic looking to pass the guard.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Subicic is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gracie has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Subicic is looking to defend but Gracie has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Subicic! Gracie pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Subicic taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Santiago Gracie!

During a confident post fight interview, Santiago Gracie thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
