PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Boucher (ranked 2513 p4p, 278 weight class) and Abdulrashid Sadulaev (ranked 3876 p4p, 382 weight class). Sadulaev has chosen Russian National Anthem as his entrance music. The key to victory for Brandon Boucher has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Boucher!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abdulrashid Sadulaev!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sadulaev avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sadulaev tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Nice cross by Boucher.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Boucher, as that shot connected.
Sadulaev misses with a takedown attempt - Boucher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brandon Boucher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abdulrashid Sadulaev.

Boucher is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Boucher has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sadulaev avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sadulaev wants the takedown. Boucher is fighting it off but Sadulaev persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Boucher's guard against the cage.

Boucher is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sadulaev presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boucher is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sadulaev pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sadulaev is trying to trip Boucher. He has hold of a leg but Boucher is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sadulaev persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Sadulaev throws a strike but Boucher rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Boucher stands up and waves to Sadulaev to follow him.

Sadulaev instigates a clinch.

Sadulaev is pressed up against the cage. Boucher has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sadulaev down to the mat. Sadulaev avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Boucher lands a head shot.

Sadulaev closes the distance and clinches.
Sadulaev wants a takedown but no success here.
Sadulaev is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Sadulaev has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Boucher regains guard immediately.

Boucher pulls Sadulaev in close to his closed guard and prevents Sadulaev from doing any damage or advancing position.

Boucher looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Boucher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sadulaev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sadulaev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sadulaev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sadulaev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Boucher dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Boucher feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sadulaevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Boucher is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sadulaev can do to turn this around?
Sadulaev doesn't manage to clinch there - Boucher circles away.

Boucher fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Boucher drops Sadulaev with a beautiful combination! Sadulaev stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Boucher is looking for the KO!


Sadulaev is rocked!


It looks like Abdulrashid Sadulaev has been cut.

Boucher cracks Sadulaev with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Boucher has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sadulaev to stand back up!
Sadulaev is still on wobbly legs! Can Boucher finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sadulaev leaves his chin hanging out and Boucher seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Sadulaev crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
