PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Box (ranked 24521 p4p, 660 weight class) and Daniel Forever (ranked 23314 p4p, 636 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Box!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Forever!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forever blocks a head kick by Box.
Box shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Forever but Forever pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Box shoots in but Forever avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Forever tries to clinch up but Box circles away and keeps his distance.
Forever shoots for a takedown but Box saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Box gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Forever fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Box throws an elbow but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Forever lands a body shot in the clinch.
Box blocks an elbow strike.
Box changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Forever fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Box throws a right and a left that Forever avoids nicely.

Forever tries to clinch there but Box circles away.

Box tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Forever swivels and escapes.
Box could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Box is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Forever stops Box from standing up.
Forever controlling from the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Forever gets to his feet - Box follows without any prompting.

Box shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Forever but Forever pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Forever shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Box sprawls well. Box wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Forever gets slowly back to his feet.
Forever shoots in but no luck this time.
Forever wants to clinch up but Box keeps it at a distance.
Box swings for the body but Forever moves out of range.

Forever shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Box will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Box wants to sweep here but Forever controlling him for the moment.
Box can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Forever controls the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Box wants to stand up but Forever is controlling him.

Box working for a triangle but Forever defends it easily.

A close round but Daniel Forever will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Forever throws a push kick but Box slaps the foot to one side.
Forever fails with a takedown attempt.

Box gets tackled into the cage by Forever. Forever maintains the clinch.
Box tries to score a body lock takedown but Forever shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Forever tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Box smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Forever fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Box sprawls well initially but Forever persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Forever sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Box defending well though.
Forever really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Box. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Box is doing well to control the position and prevent Forever from advancing to side control.
Box moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Forever controls from within his opponent's guard.
Box wants to stand up but Forever is controlling him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Forever decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Forever is defended easily by Box.
Box is looking for a counter combo.
Jack Box has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Forever.
Box shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Forever defends it nicely.
Forever defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Box.
Forever darts in looking for a takedown but Box gets double underhooks and turns Forever into the cage.
Forever shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Box as he jumps to the side.

and Box counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Forever trying to control from the bottom.
Box is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Forever wants to hold on but Box pushes him away.
Forever is desperately trying to improve his position but Box has a good base and remains in mount.

Box looking for a guillotine from mount but Forever is having none of it.
Box tries to control but Forever wriggling away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Forever is trying to escape the mount.

Box avoids the attempt from Forever to control.
Forever is squirming around, avoiding Box's attempts to control the action.
Box fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jack Box overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Box looking to control but Forever is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Forever wants to control but Box is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Box shoots in for a takedown but Forever shows good takedown defense.

Box swats away the attempt to clinch by Forever.

Box dodges the punch combination from Forever.

Box clinches with his opponent.
Box can't get the takedown.
Forever prevents a takedown attempt there.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Forever is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Box is defending well.
Box tries to score a body lock takedown but Forever shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Forever is trying to break the clinch but Box is controlling him.

Box manages to break the clinch.
Forever shoots in looking for a takedown but Box manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Forever's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Forever dives in and grabs Box's left leg, looking for a takedown. Box pushes down on Forever's head and hops out.

Box misses with a double jab.
A little jabbing left from Forever on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Forever tries to clinch there but Box circles away.
Forever slaps away a takedown attempt from Box, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Forever shoots in for a takedown but Box shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Box fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Forever avoids it really well and circles away.
Despite the aggression on Forever's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
No joy there for Forever, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Box half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Box throws a head kick but Forever moves out of range.
Forever scores with a jab to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Box shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forever pinned against the cage. Forever gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Forever throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Box tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Forever is in Box's guard.
Forever distracts Box with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Forever is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Box is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Box has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Box passes easily into side control. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Daniel Forever.
I think Forever has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
