Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Trippa (ranked 23517 p4p, 535 weight class) and Galtero El Toro (ranked 521 p4p, 79 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Galtero El Toro!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as El Toro checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
El Toro with the counter takedown but Trippa avoids it easily.
Trippa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but El Toro manages to avoid it.
El Toro lands a jab to the nose.


It looks like Jack Trippa has been cut.
Trippa slips a jab from El Toro.
Trippa is looking for a counter combo.
Trippa throws a body shot but no joy.
Trippa throws a right and a left that both miss.
El Toro changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Trippa misses with a low kick as El Toro jumps back.
A big left from El Toro misses.

El Toro looking to score a takedown here. Trippa is defending well but El Toro drives through and ends up in Trippa's guard.
Trippa wants to stand and escape but El Toro is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
El Toro scoring with punches to the head and body.
El Toro sitting in guard here, content to control.
It looks like El Toro might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
El Toro prevents Trippa from getting back to his feet.

El Toro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
El Toro postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Trippa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
El Toro slips nicely into half guard.
El Toro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Trippa pushes El Toro off looking to stand but El Toro dives back in and keeps control.

El Toro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Trippa is just riding it out for now. El Toro eventually gives up the hold.
El Toro drops an elbow to the side of Trippa's head.
El Toro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
El Toro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. El Toro lands a nice short elbow.
El Toro winds up and cracks Trippa with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
El Toro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
El Toro looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
El Toro content to control rather than advance.
Trippa tries to kick El Toro off but El Toro keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
El Toro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.


Jack Trippa's cut is getting worse.
Trippa is trying to stand.

El Toro seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Trippa is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Galtero El Toro! Galtero El Toro retains his heavyweight title!
