Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cedric Zhang (ranked 5543 p4p, 503 weight class) and Justice Carter (ranked 5547 p4p, 502 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zhang backs up against the cage.
Zhang closes the distance and clinches.
Carter misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Carter is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Zhang keeps control of Carter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Carter has had enough of the clinch but Zhang keeps him there for the moment.

Zhang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Zhang counters with a three punch combo that has Carter backing up. Carter nods at Zhang to acknowledge the strikes.

Zhang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Zhang clinches up with Carter and pushes him back against the cage.
Zhang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zhang scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Carter is looking for a sweep. Zhang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Zhang is keen to just control but Carter is a slippery customer.
Carter wants to get back to full guard but Zhang has passed into side control.

Zhang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.

Carter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Carter tries to free his leg and advance position but Zhang is retaining full guard.
Carter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zhang is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Carter, into his guard.

Zhang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Carter is trying to control Zhang's posture but Zhang avoids it.

Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zhang circles away quickly and effectively.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Zhang.

Carter tries a knee to the head but Zhang blocks it.
Carter is trying to pull guard but Zhang turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Zhang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zhang dives in and scores a takedown into Carter's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zhang's guard.
Zhang is looking to sweep but instead, Carter has passed into half guard.
Carter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Zhang looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Carter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zhang does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Carter is looking to advance position but Zhang won't allow it.
Zhang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carter is working away from the top position though.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Carter lands an elbow just above Zhang 's eye.

Carter is trying to force a seperation but Zhang has the dominant position.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Carter just misses with a elbow thrown towards Zhang's brow.

Justice Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carter manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Zhang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carter pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Zhang back to the cage. Carter follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Zhang clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zhang changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Zhang misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Cedric Zhang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter slaps away a takedown attempt from Zhang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Zhang walks into a stiff left hand from Carter.

Justice Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Zhang takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Zhang misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cedric Zhang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zhang shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well.
Zhang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Carter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
