The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wendel scores with a nice strike.

Woody has been working on his boxing with his coaches at XFighter in the buildup to the fight.
Wendel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

We've been informed that Wendel has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Woody dives in for a single leg takedown but Wendel sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Wendel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

A little jabbing left from Wendel on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Woody tries to clinch but Wendel moves out of range.
Wendel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Woody avoids the body shot from Wendel.
Woody is looking to counter punch.

Wendel uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Woody fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wendel sprawls well initially but Woody persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Woody is trying to work for a kimura but Wendel is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woody is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wendel can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Woody working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Woody wants to control the pace but Wendel is squirming around nicely.
Woody looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Woody wants to finish this one by submission but Wendel is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Woody.
Woody is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Woody!
