PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Los Razos (ranked 5238 p4p, 66 weight class) and Roni Jupiter (ranked 5236 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jupiter moves into the clinch.
Razos cracks Jupiter with a nice body shot.
Jupiter slows down the pace here.
Razos tries to break the clinch but Jupiter is controlling the position.
Razos is working for takedown but Jupiter is calmly controlling the position for now.
Razos letting Jupiter take a breather here.
Jupiter throws a punch but it's blocked by Razos.

Razos manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Razos misses with a two punch combination.
Razos shoots for a double leg takedown but Jupiter sprawls well. He's pushed Razos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jupiter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Los Razos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jupiter gets a takedown into half guard.

Jupiter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Razos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jupiter is working away from the top position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jupiter working over Razos with some ground and pound. Razos looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Razos moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jupiter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Razos is trying to control the position but Jupiter postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Razos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Razos gets tackled into the cage by Jupiter. Jupiter maintains the clinch.

Jupiter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Razos slips under a jab from Jupiter.
Razos tries to clinch but Jupiter is having none of it.

Jupiter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jupiter wants to pass the guard but Razos is keeping the position.

Jupiter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jupiter is in close to Razos's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jupiter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jupiter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Razos wants to sweep but no luck.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jupiter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jupiter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roni Jupiter dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jupiter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Razos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Razos trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Razos wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jupiter manages to pass to side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jupiter lands a heavy elbow.
Jupiter avoids the attempt from Razos to control.
Jupiter with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Razos tries to buck Jupiter off but Jupiter takes his back!

Razos is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jupiter gets his way!

Jupiter is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Razos has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Razos wants to escape the position.
Razos trying to get back to his feet but Jupiter is in full control for now.
Razos covers up after that shot from Jupiter.

Jupiter is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Razos knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Razos for a finish.
Jupiter is not going to allow Razos to sit and survive in this position.
Razos tries to escape but Jupiter has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Roni Jupiter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jupiter has his takedown stuffed

and Razos holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Razos drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jupiter pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Razos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jupiter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Razos's half guard.

Razos has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Jupiter. Oh but Razos has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Jupiter goes limp - he's gone! Razos jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
