Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Winfield (ranked 2381 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Mutou (ranked 2458 p4p, 0 weight class). Winfield kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pulp Fiction Theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jules Winfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 30 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Keiji Mutou!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A jab-cross combination lands for Mutou and sends Winfield crashing to the mat! Mutou follows him down to the mat - Winfield regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Mutou seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mutou accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Winfield changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mutou tries to avoid it but Winfield manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mutou to the ground. Mutou escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mutou scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Winfield gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mutou regains guard.

As Mutou looks to move away, Winfield throws a big counter combo but Mutou just gets out of the way.
Mutou lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Winfield at a distance.
Mutou dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Mutou forces Winfield back against the cage and clinches.
Mutou jumps guard but Winfield stands there with Mutou around his waist. Mutou gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Winfield throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mutou works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keiji Mutou dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Winfield fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mutou, pushing him back against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Winfield scores with a nice short uppercut.

Mutou pulls Winfield into guard.

Mutou is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mutou has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Winfield takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Winfield lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mutou takes a jab right on the kisser.
Keiji Mutou is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Keiji Mutou seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mutou closes the distance and clinches up with Winfield, looking for a takedown. Mutou pushes Winfield against the cage but Winfield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jules Winfield will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Winfield counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Winfield is trying to drag Mutou to the mat but Mutou just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mutou misses with the head strike.
Winfield drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mutou gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jules Winfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mutou's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Keiji Mutou.
I think Mutou has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
