Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dzik Poddawacz (ranked 2884 p4p, 324 weight class) and Henry Armstrong (ranked 4458 p4p, 438 weight class). Armstrong has chosen 999 - Homicide as his entrance music. Dzik Poddawacz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dzik Poddawacz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poddawacz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Poddawacz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Armstrong is keeping the position for now.
Poddawacz stops Armstrong from standing up.

Armstrong kicks Poddawacz off and gets to his feet.
A right-left combo lands from Armstrong.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Armstrong.
A combination from Armstrong does no damage.
Armstrong connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Poddawacz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Armstrong looks like he's trying to stand up.
Armstrong won't allow Poddawacz to pass to mount.
Armstrong is staying active underneath Poddawacz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Poddawacz moves nicely into side control.

Poddawacz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Poddawacz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Poddawacz trying to control the action but Armstrong is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poddawacz prevents Armstrong from escaping the position.

Poddawacz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Armstrong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Poddawacz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Armstrong, who protects the arm well.

Armstrong tries to escape but Poddawacz is in control.

Poddawacz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Armstrong has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Poddawacz prevents Armstrong from escaping the position.
Poddawacz trying to control the position but Armstrong is working away.

Poddawacz is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Armstrong looks calm but he's in trouble here. Poddawacz gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Armstrong is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Poddawacz lets go of the hold and Armstrong can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dzik Poddawacz!
Dzik Poddawacz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
