Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Biernat (ranked 22671 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franky Yip (ranked 2303 p4p, 0 weight class). Biernat comes into the arena with Marzenia blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mateusz Biernat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 2, fighting out of London, Franky Yip!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Biernat wants to clinch.

and Yip counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Biernat darts in trying to clinch
and Biernat takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Biernat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yip paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Biernat tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Yip manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Yip! But no joy.
Biernat wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yip has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Biernat is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Yip has hold of one of Biernat's legs. Biernat is fighting the takedown attempt but Yip gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Yip is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Biernat is looking for a triangle here but Yip uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Yip connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Biernat some visible discomfort.

Yip thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Biernat is looking to regain half guard here but Yip keeps moving and retains side control.

Biernat is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yip pulls his head out easily.
Yip tries to pass the half guard into mount. Biernat knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Yip is pressing down on Biernat's thigh, looking to free his foot. Biernat is holding on for now.
Yip content to control rather than advance.
Yip tries to pass to full mount but Biernat defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Biernat looking for a kimura from the bottom but Yip passes into side control!
Biernat trying to control but Yip flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Yip trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Biernat tries to escape the position.

Yip is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Biernat defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Yip is not going to allow Biernat to sit and survive in this position.

Yip has managed to slip his arm under Biernat's chin. This could be all over... yep, Biernat is tapping out! Submission win for Yip.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Franky Yip!
After the fight, Franky Yip was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
