PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nick Gracie Jr (ranked 1039 p4p, 51 weight class) and Vash Stampede (ranked 1959 p4p, 105 weight class). Stampede is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Remember The Name. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nick Gracie Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vash Stampede!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie Jr rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Stampede counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gracie Jr throws a looping overhand right but Stampede ducks down to avoid it.

Gracie Jr closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stampede did well to prevent Gracie Jr getting side control.
Gracie Jr has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Stampede wants to get back to full guard.
Stampede has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie Jr is working away from the top position though.
Gracie Jr is keen to just control but Stampede is a slippery customer.
Stampede trying to control but Gracie Jr postures up.

Gracie Jr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stampede is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie Jr is thwarting Stampede's attempts to control the position.
Gracie Jr is looking to advance position but Stampede won't allow it.

Gracie Jr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stampede defends it well.

Gracie Jr slows the pace down in half guard.
Stampede really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie Jr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stampede sees it coming and defends easily.
Stampede is trying to maintain the position but Gracie Jr is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stampede can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stampede is looking for a sweep. Gracie Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gracie Jr is working for a submission of some sort.
Stampede tries to roll over but Gracie Jr keeps him under control.

Gracie Jr is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stampede has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gracie Jr wants to work for an arm triangle but Stampede is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gracie Jr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Stampede is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie Jr sits in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie Jr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stampede doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie Jr.

Gracie Jr is looking for a kimura here.
Gracie Jr is just content to waste time from the top position. Stampede takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Stampede looking to control.
Gracie Jr wants to control from the top but Stampede keeps moving.
Gracie Jr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stampede controls Gracie Jr momentarily but Gracie Jr frees himself.
Stampede keeping moving, preventing Gracie Jr from controlling successfully.
Gracie Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Stampede is retaining full guard.
Stampede is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie Jr trying to control but Stampede is working from the bottom.
Gracie Jr wants to pass the guard but Stampede is keeping the position.
Gracie Jr wants to control from the top but Stampede keeps moving.
Gracie Jr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stampede is keeping the position for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gracie Jr drops back looking for a leg! Stampede is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stampede manages to kick Gracie Jr off! Gracie Jr jumps back into Stampede's guard.
Gracie Jr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stampede looking for a sweep. Not yet Stampede, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Gracie Jr dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gracie Jr throws a body punch but Stampede moves out of range.
Stampede connects with the punch.
Stampede dips to his left and cracks Gracie Jr with an uppercut!

Stampede misses with a right hand

and Gracie Jr counters with a shoot takedown. Stampede fights it but they end up in guard.
Gracie Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Stampede is retaining full guard.
Stampede pulls Gracie Jr in close to his closed guard and prevents Gracie Jr from doing any damage or advancing position.
Stampede controls Gracie Jr momentarily but Gracie Jr frees himself.
Gracie Jr wants to control from the top but Stampede keeps moving.
Nick Gracie Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stampede working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie Jr passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gracie Jr trying to control the position but Stampede is working away.
Stampede is trying to improve his position.

Gracie Jr is working to tighten his grip on Stampede's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Stampede has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gracie Jr is really squeezing tight and eventually Stampede passes out! Gracie Jr breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
