PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jaxson Kane (ranked 5471 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shintaro Nomo (ranked 4381 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaxson Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Shintaro Nomo!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nomo cracks Kane with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A decent looking cross lands there for Nomo.
Nomo lands a head shot.

It looks like Jaxson Kane has been cut.
Nomo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kane. Kane circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Nomo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kane's hands.
Nomo pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kane back to the cage. Nomo follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The crowd cheers as Nomo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kane doesn't seem phased though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nomo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kane swings widly with a right hand
and Kane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nomo moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kane misses with a takedown attempt
and Nomo counters with a nice uppercut.

Kane is rocked!
Nomo lands a jab.
Oh Kane is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kane takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kane seems to have got his legs back now.
Kane tries to move into range but Nomo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nomo thuds his right hand into Kane's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kane tries for a takedown but Nomo circles away easily
and Nomo counters with a crisp right that sends Kane to the canvas! Nomo follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shintaro Nomo!
A determined Shintaro Nomo didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
