PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dusty Anthony (ranked 6583 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ultimate Warrior (ranked 3340 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dusty Anthony has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dusty Anthony!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ultimate Warrior!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Warrior gets a clinch.

Warrior breaks from the clinch.

Warrior dives in and scores a takedown into Anthony's guard.
Anthony wants to stand and escape but Warrior is having none of it.
Warrior lands a couple of digs.
Warrior is stalling in the full guard.

Warrior drops back looking for a leg! Anthony is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anthony manages to kick Warrior off! Warrior jumps back into Anthony's guard.
Warrior trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warrior working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Warrior trying to control but Anthony is working from the bottom.

Warrior drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Warrior jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Anthony wants to stand and escape but Warrior is having none of it.

Warrior loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Warrior throwing strikes but missing.
Warrior controls from within his opponent's guard.
Anthony thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Warrior won't allow Anthony to get back to his feet.
Anthony can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Warrior controls the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Warrior looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Anthony makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Anthony could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Warrior clinches.

Anthony ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Anthony no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Warrior trying to control the position from guard on top but Anthony is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Warrior's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Warrior throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Warrior throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Anthony works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Anthony wants to get back to his feet but Warrior is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Anthony might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Anthony wants to stand and escape but Warrior is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Warrior forces Anthony back against the cage and clinches.

Warrior has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Anthony is trying to keep an underhook but Warrior manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Warrior is trying to work for a kimura but Anthony is defending well.

Warrior blocks the strikes from Anthony.
Warrior not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Anthony preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Warrior wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anthony keeps working.

Anthony scores with a few weak punches.
Warrior is looking to take a break and control but Anthony is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Anthony wants to get back to his feet.
Anthony wants to control but Warrior is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Anthony is doing well to control the position and prevent Warrior from advancing to side control.
Warrior wants to pass to mount but Anthony is defending the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Warrior looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Anthony with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Anthony tries to kick Warrior off but Warrior keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Warrior closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Anthony throws Warrior to one side and escapes!

Anthony gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Warrior to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Warrior drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Warrior jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Warrior has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Anthony manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Warrior manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Warrior pulls Anthony in close to his closed guard and prevents Anthony from doing any damage or advancing position.
Anthony stands up over Warrior, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Warrior controls Anthony momentarily but Anthony frees himself.
Warrior is pulling down on Anthony's head to control his posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Warrior tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Anthony stops Warrior from standing up.

Warrior wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Anthony manages to pass to side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Warrior slips a jab and a cross from Anthony.
Warrior is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

A frustrated look appears on Warrior's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Warrior has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Anthony uses from the top position.

Warrior creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Anthony sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Warrior is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Anthony knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anthony is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Warrior asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Warrior thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Anthony explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Anthony rushes Warrior and presses him up against the cage.
Anthony wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ultimate Warrior.
I think Warrior has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
