Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Lin Shui (ranked 7312 p4p, 412 weight class) and The Steel Penn (ranked 3399 p4p, 277 weight class). And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 7 losses; The Steel Penn!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Steel Penn instigates a clinch.
Shui prevents the takedown attempt.

Shui has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Steel Penn uses from the top position.
Steel Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shui swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shui has his hands on Steel Penn's head, controlling the position.
My spies in Steel's Grappling Penn inform me that Steel Penn has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Shui has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Steel Penn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shui manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Steel Penn has Shui in his guard.

Steel Penn has his foot on Shui's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shui works his way back into a safe position though.
Shui wants to control from the top but Steel Penn keeps moving.

Steel Penn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Shui stacks Steel Penn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Shui!

You can see the frustration on Steel Penn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Steel Penn tries to bench press Shui off him but Shui keeps the position.

Steel Penn is trying to control Shui's posture but Shui avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steel Penn stops Shui from passing to mount.
Steel Penn being controlled for a moment.
Steel Penn manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Shui is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Steel Penn!

Steel Penn is trying to reverse the position but instead Shui has taken his back - oops!

You can see the frustration on Steel Penn's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Shui has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Shui is not going to allow Steel Penn to sit and survive in this position.

Shui is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Steel Penn with him. Steel Penn is trying to defend but Shui has an arm under the chin now! Steel Penn grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Lin Shui!
