PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ra Tardferrus (ranked 4381 p4p, 140 weight class) and Bretton Pritcharf (ranked 24139 p4p, 244 weight class). Tardferrus comes to the cage accompanied by Headstrong "Trapt". There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ra Tardferrus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bretton Pritcharf!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tardferrus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pritcharf to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pritcharf's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Tardferrus looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tardferrus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pritcharf defends well.
Pritcharf postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tardferrus is looking for a triangle here but Pritcharf uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Tardferrus regains half guard.
Pritcharf is nestled in close to Tardferrus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pritcharf wants to stand but Tardferrus has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pritcharf is in close to Tardferrus's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pritcharf trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tardferrus's guard.

Pritcharf got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tardferrus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pritcharf has managed to get both his arms back between Tardferrus's legs - danger averted.

Tardferrus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pritcharf is aware though and is defending well.
Pritcharf must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A close round but Bretton Pritcharf will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Pritcharf closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tardferrus quickly recovers to half guard.
Pritcharf takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bretton Pritcharf has got the better of the ground game so far.

Let's hope that Pritcharf has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bretton Pritcharf is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pritcharf is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tardferrus sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tardferrus is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pritcharf.

Pritcharf darts in and clinches Tardferrus up against the cage.

Bretton Pritcharf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Pritcharf is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tardferrus's half guard.

Tardferrus has one foot on Pritcharf's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Pritcharf misses with a head kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Tardferrus has been working on his balance at Fisticuffs, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Pritcharf.

Pritcharf has Tardferrus pulled in close to control his posture.
Tardferrus wants to pass the guard but Pritcharf is keeping the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Pritcharf darts in looking for a takedown but Tardferrus gets double underhooks and turns Pritcharf into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tardferrus enables Pritcharf to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tardferrus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Tardferrus scrambles and gets back to his feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pritcharf is defended easily by Tardferrus.
Tardferrus appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Tardferrus bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Pritcharf's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pritcharf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tardferrus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tardferrus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pritcharf, who protects the arm well.

Tardferrus stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Ra Tardferrus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pritcharf takes the fight into the clinch.

Tardferrus struggles to land a body shot inside as Pritcharf controls his hands.

Tardferrus tries to land knees in the clinch but Pritcharf avoids the damage to the body.

Pritcharf escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pritcharf has managed to clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Pritcharf.

Pritcharf manages to pull guard.
Pritcharf has control of Tardferrus's left arm, preventing Tardferrus from doing any damage.
Tardferrus trying to control the position from guard on top but Pritcharf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pritcharf escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tardferrus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ra Tardferrus.
I think Pritcharf has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
