PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wesley Snyder (ranked 7191 p4p, 560 weight class) and Shane Tull (ranked 24675 p4p, 602 weight class). Shane Tull told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wesley Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Tull!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snyder closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Tull trying to control from the bottom.
Still in half guard, Snyder seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tull has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Snyder is working away from the top position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snyder slows the pace down in half guard.
Tull is trying to control but can't.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, if Snyder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tull shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Tull tries to keep at a distance but Snyder has taken the fight into the clinch.
Snyder working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Tull drops down looking for an ankle pick but Snyder pulls his leg out and moves away.

Snyder closes the distance and clinches.
Snyder lands a hook that snaps the head of Tull backwards.
Snyder presses Tull against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Snyder prevents Tull from breaking the clinch.
Snyder is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Tull is defending well.
Snyder goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tull prevents it.
Snyder looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Snyder turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Tull holds on to Snyder's head and controls the position momentarily.
Snyder is staying tight to Tull's torso, preventing him from escaping.
You can see the frustration on Tull's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tull is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Snyder off and has taken his back!
Tull has the hooks in. Snyder is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Snyder prevents Tull from getting a body triangle.

Tull is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Snyder is tapping out! This one is all over!
