PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Popeye Theeh (ranked 4433 p4p, 350 weight class) and Raji Kucoc (ranked 4643 p4p, 358 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raji Kucoc!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Theeh tries to clinch up
and Kucoc counters with a straight right hand.
No luck for Theeh with that takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kucoc enables Theeh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kucoc manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kucoc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Theeh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Theeh wants to pass the guard but Kucoc is keeping the position.

Kucoc is working an open guard so Theeh takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Theeh closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kucoc did well to prevent Theeh getting side control.

Theeh content to control rather than advance.
Theeh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Theeh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kucoc's guard.
Theeh controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Theeh prevents Kucoc from getting back to his feet.
Theeh throws a big right hand that misses.
Theeh stops Kucoc from standing up.
Theeh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Theeh wants to pass the guard but Kucoc is keeping the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Theeh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Theeh working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kucoc works over Theeh's head and body with a nice combination.
Theeh tries a head kick but it misses.
Kucoc ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kucoc is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Theeh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Kucoc to counter with a crisp jab.
Kucoc goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A nice combination there by Kucoc.
Theeh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kucoc as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Popeye Theeh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Theeh closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kucoc circles away.
Kucoc throws a counter combo.
Kucoc throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Theeh on the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raji Kucoc dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kucoc lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kucoc throws a series of strikes that have Theeh backpedaling.
Theeh tries to clinch up but Kucoc circles away and keeps his distance.
Kucoc changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Theeh tries a head kick but it misses.
Kucoc stalks Theeh and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Theeh's face. Theeh staggers backwards, shaken.

Theeh looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kucoc circles away from the clinch attempt.
Popeye Theeh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kucoc lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Theeh has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Theeh.

Kucoc looks to land a combination. Theeh sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Theeh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kucoc napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kucoc stops Theeh from passing to mount.
Kucoc avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Theeh.
A lull in the action here.

Theeh stands up.
Popeye Theeh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kucoc pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Theeh back to the cage. Kucoc follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Theeh doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kucoc counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Theeh takes a jab right on the kisser.
Theeh misses with a wild combination.
Kucoc is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Theeh with a body shot.
Kucoc closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Kucoc throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Theeh stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kucoc!
Theeh wants to clinch
and Kucoc counters with a left and a right that stings Theeh.

Theeh is rocked!
Kucoc connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Oh Theeh is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Kucoc counters with a straight that turns Theeh's legs to rubber! Kucoc pushes forward with more strikes and Theeh goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
