Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Rutherford (ranked 263 p4p, 32 weight class) and Marcus Child (ranked 1292 p4p, 164 weight class). Child is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: VooDoo . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Child throws a hook to the side of Rutherford's head but Rutherford sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Child has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rutherford.
Rutherford has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Big Bear Fight Factory in the buildup to the fight.
Child is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fighters circle momentarily. Child darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Rutherford throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Rutherford shoots in looking for a takedown. Child tries to sprawl out of it but Rutherford keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Child manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rutherford has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Rutherford is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Child knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Child for a finish.

Child got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rutherford has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Child has managed to get both his arms back between Rutherford's legs - danger averted.

Rutherford lands a left and a right that send Child crashing to the mat, dazed. Rutherford thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Rutherford uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Child.
