Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Custer misses
and Velderman makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Custer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Custer tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Velderman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Velderman connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Velderman throws a jab but it's blocked by Custer.
Velderman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Custer pushes Velderman up against the ropes in a clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Velderman.
Velderman misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A frustrated look appears on Custer's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Custer manages to break the clinch.
Velderman connects with a right hand. Custer shakes it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Custer checks a leg kick.
Custer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Velderman ducks under a wild hook from Custer.

Velderman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Custer was well out of range. Poor timing from Velderman.
Custer scores with a shot to the body.
Ron Velderman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Custer avoids the head kick by Velderman.
Custer fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Velderman is out of range.
Velderman lands a lovely overhand right.

Custer clinches up with Velderman and pushes him back against the ropes.

Velderman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Custer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Velderman has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Custer tries to clinch there but Velderman circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velderman uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Custer checks a low kick from Velderman.
Custer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Custer tries to clinch but Velderman is having none of it.
Velderman now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Custer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Velderman swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Velderman lands a front kick to the face, that drops Custer to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!

Velderman scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Custer to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Velderman away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Custer got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!

Custer closes the distance and clinches.
Velderman has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Custer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Velderman is keeping busy.
Velderman throws a head punch that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velderman scores with a shoulder strike.
Velderman prevents a body shot from Custer.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Velderman will get the nod in that round, having scored multiple knockdowns.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Velderman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Custer.

Velderman drops a shoulder and throws a biiiig uppercut that drops Custer onto his butt! Custer pops straight back to his feet to convince the referee that he's OK to continue.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Custer tries to clinch but Velderman is having none of it.

Velderman moves out of range as Custer strikes.

Velderman lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Custer walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Custer is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!

After the fight, Ron Velderman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
