Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Oriola (ranked 740 p4p, 92 weight class) and Joao Silvera (ranked 1474 p4p, 178 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Oriola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joao Silvera!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Oriola wants to land a leg kick but Silvera is out of range.
Oriola gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Silvera counters with a nice uppercut.
Silvera checks the leg kick nicely there.
Silvera throws a counter combo.
Oriola tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silvera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Oriola somewhat.
A little jabbing left from Silvera on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oriola thows a leg kick but Silvera checks it
and Silvera counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Silvera counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Oriola throws the kick towards the body but Silvera avoids it.
Silvera unleashes a big counter combination but Oriola bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Oriola shoots in for a takedown but Silvera shows good takedown defense.
Silvera let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Oriola. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It seemed like Silvera was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Oriola tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Silvera defends well and Oriola ends up having to push Silvera into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Some bone on bone action there as Silvera checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
It seemed like Silvera was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Oriola is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

and Silvera cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A clash of legs there as Silvera blocks the low kick.

Silvera gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Oriola to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Oriola tries to free his leg and advance position but Silvera is retaining full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Oriola is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Oriola's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Oriola pulls guard successfully.

Oriola is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silvera is aware though and is defending well.

Oriola is looking for a triangle but Silvera pushes his legs off easily.
Oriola manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Silvera manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Oriola is on top in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oriola postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silvera is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Oriola, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Oriola lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Silvera has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Silvera and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Oriola throws out a leg kick but Silvera moves out of range and Oriola only half commits.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Silvera! But no joy.

Silvera felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Oriola is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Silvera pushes Oriola off looking to stand but Oriola dives back in and keeps control.
Silvera won't allow Oriola to pass to mount.
Oriola is working hard here to advance position.
Oriola wants to control but Silvera is keeping him busy.
Oriola misses with a head shot. Silvera uses the momentum to regain guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Diego Oriola overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Oriola throws the kick towards the body but Silvera avoids it.

Good work by Silvera as he checks the leg kick.
Oriola goes for a double leg but Silvera avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Silvera continues to drive forward.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Oriola closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silvera circles away.
Silvera throws out a counter right but Oriola avoids it with no problem.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Oriola.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Joao Silvera will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Oriola has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Silvera! Can he survive? No! He's out! Oriola gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Diego Oriola!
Diego Oriola spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
