PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Day (ranked 2641 p4p, 296 weight class) and Godric Shackleford (ranked 2133 p4p, 247 weight class). Day kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Last minute - Great day to choke you out. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 3, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Godric Shackleford!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shackleford, as that shot connected.
Day comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shackleford on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Shackleford has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Day wants to slow Shackleford down by chopping away at his legs.
Shackleford throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Day shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shackleford napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Shackleford dodges the ground and pound from Day.
Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Shackleford parries the strikes from Day easily there. Day is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shackleford to escape.
Day tries to score with some ground and pound. Shackleford controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looks like Gary Day has been cut.

Day feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Day accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Day throws a strike but Shackleford rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Well Day has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
