Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rio Avalos (ranked 2619 p4p, 271 weight class) and Duncan Trussell (ranked 2274 p4p, 239 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Duncan Trussell enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rio Avalos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Duncan Trussell!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avalos loads up on a big right hand but Trussell slips the punch.
Trussell keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Trussell slips a straight right by Avalos.
A looping hook to the body misses from Avalos. Trussell does a little dance to reset his feet.

Avalos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Trussell to the mat! Trussell manages to get full guard.
Trussell is looking to stand up but Avalos isn't so interested in that idea.
Avalos works over Trussell with some ground and pound from guard.
Trussell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Trussell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Avalos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Avalos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Avalos stops Trussell from standing up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Avalos's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Trussell trying to keep a closed guard but Avalos is proving a slippery customer.
Avalos passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Trussell parries the strikes from Avalos easily there. Avalos is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Trussell to escape.
Trussell is trying to control Avalos's posture but Avalos avoids it.
Avalos has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Avalos lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Trussell bucks up and tries to throw Avalos off but instead Avalos has got his back!
Avalos lands shots from the back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Avalos scores with punches and elbows.
Avalos is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Trussell up.


Trussell is rocked!
A helpless look comes across Trussell 's face. He knows he's trapped as Avalos lands a series of unanswered strikes. The ref steps in to stop the fight and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rio Avalos!
A less than humble Rio Avalos misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
