Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jodie Hunt (ranked 3261 p4p, 331 weight class) and Danny Sliva (ranked 5590 p4p, 0 weight class). Jodie Hunt could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Danny Sliva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jodie Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Sliva!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sliva.
Hunt tries to counter with a takedown but Sliva is quick to defend against it.
Hunt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sliva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sliva in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt keeping moving, preventing Sliva from controlling successfully.
Sliva prevents Hunt from getting back to his feet.
Hunt controls Sliva momentarily but Sliva frees himself.
Sliva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Hunt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunt is adopting a defensive guard.

Sliva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sliva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sliva trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hunt has his foot on Sliva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sliva works his way back into a safe position though.
Hunt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hunt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sliva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hunt shoots for a takedown but Sliva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sliva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hunt defends well and Sliva ends up having to push Hunt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
As Sliva looks to move away, Hunt throws a big counter combo but Sliva just gets out of the way.

Hunt gets tackled into the cage by Sliva. Sliva maintains the clinch.
Sliva avoiding damage as Hunt throws knees to the body.
The referee calls for Hunt to work.
Hunt is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sliva gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jodie Hunt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sliva shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sliva wants to get back to his feet.

Sliva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hunt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Danny Sliva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hunt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hunt tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Hunt connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Sliva some visible discomfort.
A lull in the action here.
Hunt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sliva keeps working.
Sliva is trying to buck Hunt off.
Sliva tries to buck Hunt off but Hunt is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hunt is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Hunt wants to control but Sliva is keeping him busy.
Hunt has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Sliva working to try and regain half guard.
Sliva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hunt lands a big elbow.
Hunt tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hunt looking to finish Sliva with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sliva!
Sliva is squirming around, avoiding Hunt's attempts to control the action.
Jodie Hunt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sliva tries to lock up and control but Hunt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hunt has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sliva's face.

Hunt controlling the pace for now.
Sliva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hunt looking to control but Sliva is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hunt controlling from the full mount.
Hunt lands a heavy elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hunt tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hunt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sliva is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Hunt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Still in half guard, Hunt seems content to control.
Sliva wants to control but Hunt is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sliva tries to roll over but Hunt keeps him under control.

Hunt wants to pass the guard but Sliva is defending well.

Sliva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sliva fails in his attempt to clinch.

Sliva closes the distance and clinches.

Hunt pulls guard effortlessly.
Hunt is trying to control the position but Sliva postures up.

Hunt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sliva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sliva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sliva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt tries to strike from the bottom.
Hunt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sliva is one step ahead there.
Hunt seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hunt is pulling down on Sliva's head to control his posture.
Sliva throws an elbow that misses. Hunt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sliva's guard. Nice move by Hunt!

Sliva wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hunt makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Sliva keeps moving.
Sliva wants to sweep here but Hunt controlling him for the moment.
Hunt stands up over Sliva, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Sliva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hunt defends it easily.
Sliva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sliva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hunt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sliva.
