Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Owen Webb!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ben Watson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Webb tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Webb fails with a takedown attempt.

Cooke darts in and clinches Webb up against the cage.
Webb wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cooke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cooke jumps guard but Webb turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooke pulls guard.
Webb loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Cooke is working an open guard so Webb takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cooke tries to clinch up but Webb circles away and keeps his distance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooke is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Webb has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Webb looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Webb rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Webb tries to get to full guard but Cooke has control of the leg.
Webb scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Cooke manages to mount him!
Webb tries to reverse the position but Cooke maintains control.
Webb wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Cooke.
Webb tries to hold on but Cooke pushes him away.
Webb regains half guard.

Cooke is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Webb doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cooke.

Cooke is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Webb sees it coming and defends easily.

Webb moves into full guard.

Cooke gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cooke walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Webb throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Webb keeps the fight on the outside.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Webb! But no joy.
Webb throws a lazy head kick

and Cooke counters with a single leg into guard. Webb didn't expect that.
Webb wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cooke manages to pass to side control.

Webb is trying to maintain the position but Cooke is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooke prevents Webb from improving his position.

Cooke looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Webb has one foot on Cooke's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Cooke moves into the clinch.
Webb has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Cooke tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Webb is trying to break free.
Cooke is trying to pull guard but Webb turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Webb has had enough of the clinch but Cooke keeps him there for the moment.
Webb is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cooke to keep the fight standing.
Cooke tries to throw a body punch but Webb avoids it by throwing Cooke back against the cage.

Owen Webb is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Webb rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cooke moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cooke doesn't manage to clinch there - Webb circles away.
Webb is looking for the big counter here.
Cooke shoots in and drives through. Webb sprawls well.
Webb unleashes a big counter combination but Cooke bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Webb scores with a punch to the head.

Cooke moves into range and clinches up with Webb.
Cooke tries to pull guard but Webb holds him up against the cage and eventually Cooke drops back down to his feet.
Cooke throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Webb blocks it with crossed arms.
Webb tries to break free but Cooke pushes him back against the cage.

Webb tries to pull guard but Cooke won't allow it.
Webb is trying to break the clinch but Cooke has him pressed against the cage.
Webb wants to break free but Cooke has control.
Webb pushes Cooke back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cooke with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Cooke struggles to land a body shot inside as Webb controls his hands.
Cooke jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Webb walks away with a smile on his face. Cooke gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Webb throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Webb goes for a double leg but Cooke avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cooke continues to drive forward.
Webb scores with a one two! Cooke had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


Cooke is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Owen Webb showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cooke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Webb defends it well.

Cooke is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Webb has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Webb!

Webb is looking to work some ground and pound but Cooke has wrist control.
Cooke tries to strike from the bottom.
Webb stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooke swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cooke wants to get back to his feet but Webb is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cooke preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Webb stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cooke shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Webb counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Cooke! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Owen Webb!
