PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Archie Moore (ranked 384 p4p, 55 weight class) and Big Guns (ranked 202 p4p, 28 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 2, fighting out of London, Big Guns!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guns jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Guns cracks Moore with an open hand slap.
Guns tries to close the distance and clinch but Moore swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice jab there from Guns.
Moore lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Guns goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Guns gets a clinch.
Guns trying to land knees to the body.
Guns doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Moore breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guns misses with a looping right.
Big Guns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guns throws a looping overhand right but Moore ducks down to avoid it.

Guns unloads with some shots from mount but Moore bucks and avoids them well.
Guns can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Moore is looking to escape.
Guns thowing shots but they're missing.
Guns throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Guns takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Guns misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Guns jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Moore is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Moore and Guns has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Guns goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Moore rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Guns's guard! Nice work there by Moore!

Guns manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moore manages to get himself to full guard.

Guns drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Moore manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Guns has Moore in his guard.

Guns throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A right-left combo lands from Moore.

It looks like Big Guns has been cut.
Moore thows a leg kick but Guns checks it
and Guns counters with a good low kick that Moore was not able to check.
Moore is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Guns tries a head kick but it misses.
Guns does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Guns delivers a nice body kick.
A cross from Moore lands.
Guns throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Moore misses its target.
Moore gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Moore moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The fighters circling - Moore throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Guns drops Moore with a big left hand and mounts him. Moore is in big trouble!
Oh Moore is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Moore wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Guns.
Moore seems to have got his legs back now.

Guns wants to finish this one by submission but Moore is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Guns.
Guns lands with some strikes.
Guns wants to control but Moore has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Big Guns has got the better of the ground game so far.
Guns works his foot free and advances to mount.
Guns forces the positional change into back control.
Well, with Guns on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Moore is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Moore looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Guns is looking for the choke from the back position but Moore is controlling his hands well.

Guns is controlling the position but Moore somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Guns seems to be working for a kimura but Moore defends the submission attempt.
Guns content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Guns ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Moore moves away.
Moore avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Moore lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

and Guns takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Moore is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Guns dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Moore is looking to score with low kicks.
Guns takes a swing at Moore's ribcage but misses.
Archie Moore has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Guns lets loose with a powerful body kick. Moore will feel that in the morning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Guns throws out a powerful jab.

Guns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moore pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Moore ducks right into an uppercut from Guns.

Guns fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Moore to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Moore looks to clinch but Guns throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Moore taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
