Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Hutchinson (ranked 3185 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 4940 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Therion - Sitra Ahra kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Reggie Hutchinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 37 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hutchinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Hutchinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hutchinson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Hutchinson dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Smith lands a nice hook to Hutchinson's body. Hutchinson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hutchinson looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well.

and Smith counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Hutchinson feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Hutchinson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hutchinson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith shapes to counter with a head kick.
Hutchinson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hutchinson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.

Smith leaves Hutchinson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hutchinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hutchinson off to one side.

Smith tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hutchinson is able to avoid easily.
Hutchinson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Smith manages to circle out of the way.
Hutchinson throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Smith throws a looping overhand right but Hutchinson ducks down to avoid it.

Hutchinson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hutchinson gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hutchinson's calf.
Hutchinson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith throws the left hand but Hutchinson avoids the punch easily.
Hutchinson is looking to counter with head kicks.
Hutchinson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
Hutchinson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Smith to counter with a crisp jab.

Smith is controlling Hutchinson's trapped leg to prevent Hutchinson from advancing to side control.
We've been hearing that Hutchinson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Hutchinson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Hutchinson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hutchinson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hutchinson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Smith bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Smith scores with a nice head shot.
Hutchinson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hutchinson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Smith counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hutchinson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hutchinson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!

Hutchinson is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control.

Hutchinson throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Hutchinson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hutchinson is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hutchinson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hutchinson kicks off Smith and gets to his feet.

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hutchinson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.

Hutchinson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Hutchinson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.

Smith is looking to take a break and control but Hutchinson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smith takes a little break here. Hutchinson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hutchinson goes for a double leg but Smith avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smith continues to drive forward.
Smith doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hutchinson shoots and misses
and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.
Hutchinson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Smith counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hutchinson is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Smith lunges at Hutchinson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hutchinson's hand.
Hutchinson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Hutchinson tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Hutchinson back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hutchinson is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh Hutchinson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.

Mike Smith really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Mohito Fightwear (Laundry) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
