Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Johnson (ranked 5619 p4p, 508 weight class) and Malachi Lawrence (ranked 5984 p4p, 521 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawrence pushes Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.
Johnson has had enough of the clinch but Lawrence keeps him there for the moment.
Lawrence gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Lawrence is struggling to control the position.
Lawrence gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Lawrence seems to be looking for submissions.
Lawrence thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Johnson's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lawrence can do anything to dispel that myth.

Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawrence swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson throws a strike but Lawrence rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lawrence closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lawrence's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Johnson has hold of Lawrence's hands but Lawrence slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lawrence is trying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lawrence escapes and gets back to his feet.
Roy Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lawrence shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.

Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lawrence sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.
Johnson sets himself, and Lawrence steps forward looking for the clinch! Johnson avoids it this time.
Johnson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lawrence closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.
Lawrence got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lawrence has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson is bucking up trying to escape but Lawrence cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Lawrence wants to finish this one by submission but Johnson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lawrence.

Lawrence tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Johnson is desperately trying to improve his position but Lawrence has a good base and remains in mount.

Lawrence is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Johnson is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Johnson flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Lawrence anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Johnson and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Lawrence slips an arm under Johnson chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Lawrence has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Lawrence is squeezing on Johnson like an anaconda would it's prey. Johnson fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
