PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mason Foster (ranked 6808 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitaly Ragozin (ranked 7028 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vitaly Ragozin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ragozin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Foster eats them both and turns towards Ragozin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Foster lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Foster fails with the takedown

and Ragozin counters with a takedown into side control.
Ragozin tries to move to mount but Foster blocks the move with his legs.
Foster tries to improve position but can't.
Foster is pushing Ragozin's head away, looking to escape. Ragozin manages to hold on to the position though.
Foster tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ragozin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ragozin working away.
Ragozin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Foster is looking for a sweep.
Foster is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ragozin controlling the position from side mount.

Ragozin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ragozin grinds an elbow into Foster's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Foster is looking for a sweep.
Ragozin in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Ragozin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Foster is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ragozin staying calm.
Foster on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Foster tries to get out of the position.

Foster is trying to get back to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Foster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ragozin but Ragozin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Foster misses with the combination.
Ragozin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Foster defends it well.
Foster will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ragozin throws a low kick, looking for Foster's leg but Foster calmly moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ragozin is defended easily by Foster.
Ragozin tries to close the distance and clinch but Foster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ragozin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Foster was covering up waiting for the punch and Ragozin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ragozin tries to free his leg and advance position but Foster is retaining full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ragozin wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.
Ragozin showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitaly Ragozin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Ragozin clinches with his opponent.
Ragozin has Foster pressed against the cage, preventing Foster from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Foster tries to circle away but Ragozin has him pinned against the cage.
Ragozin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Foster after a bit of a struggle.
Ragozin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Foster is pressed up against the cage. Ragozin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Foster down to the mat. Foster avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ragozin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Foster circles away.
Foster looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mason Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitaly Ragozin.
Ragozin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Foster defends well and Ragozin ends up having to push Foster into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ragozin is looking to clinch.
Foster swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Ragozin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ragozin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Ragozin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ragozin won't allow Foster to sweep him here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ragozin wants to pass the guard but Foster is keeping the position.
Ragozin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ragozin is stalling in the full guard.
Foster is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ragozin is controlling him.
Foster has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ragozin has passed into side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ragozin lands a few punches from side control.
Foster being controlled for a moment.

Ragozin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ragozin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Foster is looking to reverse the position.
Ragozin controls the position.
Ragozin is looking to take a break and control but Foster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ragozin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ragozin fails with the takedown.
Foster half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Foster shoots in looking for a takedown but Ragozin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Foster's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ragozin has closed the distance and engaged Foster in a clinch.
Foster on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Foster is trying to break the clinch but Ragozin has him pressed against the cage.
Ragozin tries to pull guard but Foster won't allow it.
Foster wants to get back to striking at distance but Ragozin won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ragozin is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ragozin is trying to force a seperation but Foster has the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitaly Ragozin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Foster pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Despite the aggression on Ragozin's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Mason Foster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ragozin throws a one two combo.
Ragozin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ragozin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Foster.
Ragozin throws a head kick but Foster moves out of range.
Foster shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ragozin sprawls well. Ragozin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Foster gets slowly back to his feet.
Ragozin looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Foster shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ragozin as he jumps to the side.

Ragozin darts in and clinches Foster up against the cage.

Ragozin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Foster is defending well.
Ragozin is working for takedown but Foster is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ragozin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Foster smiles and moves away.
Mason Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitaly Ragozin.
Foster pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ragozin back to the cage. Foster follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
A punch combination from Foster misses.
Ragozin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Foster is fending him off so far but Ragozin persists. Nope, Foster circles away and we're back to standing.

Ragozin gets a clinch.
Ragozin tries to circle away but Foster has him pinned against the cage.
Ragozin swings wildly with an uppercut but Foster uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foster stops a takedown attempt from Ragozin.
Ragozin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Foster avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Foster wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ragozin has him pressed against the cage.
Foster holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Foster manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Foster, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Foster fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Foster blocks a head kick by Ragozin.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foster lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ragozin circles away quickly and effectively.
Foster displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ragozin.

Ragozin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Foster has picked Ragozin up - he's going for a ride! Foster dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Ragozin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Foster's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Foster's back!
Foster tries to roll but Ragozin sticks to his back.

Vitaly Ragozin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
