PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Estrada (ranked 5201 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Vee (ranked 5272 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Estrada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vinnie Vee!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estrada defending well as Vee loads up on a big left hand.
Estrada drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vee sprawls and moves away.

Vee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vee lands in his opponent's guard.
Vee wants to stand but Estrada is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Estrada keeping moving, preventing Vee from controlling successfully.
Vee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Estrada is trying to control the position but Vee postures up.
Vee wants to get up but he can't break Estrada's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Vee trying to move into half guard but instead Estrada has managed to sweep!

Estrada really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vee wants to get back to his feet but Estrada is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Estrada not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Vee working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Estrada has passed into half guard!

Vinnie Vee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vee throws the kick towards the body but Estrada avoids it.
Vee shoots in for a takedown but Estrada shows good takedown defense.
Vee looks for a takedown but Estrada sprawls well.
Estrada fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Vee's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Estrada goes for a takedown in the clinch but Vee prevents it.
Vee jumps guard but Estrada turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Sean Estrada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinnie Vee.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Estrada has Vee pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vee manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Estrada tries to pull guard but Vee forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Vee wants to clinch up but Estrada keeps it at a distance.
Estrada changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Vee fails with the takedown.

Vee closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Estrada quickly recovers to half guard.
Estrada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vee is working away from the top position though.
Estrada is refusing to be controlled, as Vee sits in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Estrada regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vee.

Vee lands a couple of elbows.
Vee preventing the sweep.
Estrada has momentary wrist control but Vee slips an elbow through the middle.
Vee trying to control the position from guard on top but Estrada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vee wants to pass the guard but Estrada is keeping the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Estrada lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Vee trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Vee looking to control.
Vee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Estrada stays in close to Vee's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Estrada gets a takedown into half guard.

Vee has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Estrada is on him like a limpet, forcing Vee back against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Estrada is on top in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Estrada slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Estrada throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Estrada will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vee wants to control the position but Estrada says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Vee tries to get to full guard but Estrada has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vinnie Vee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Estrada has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
