PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jari Kankkunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armas Ruutana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kankkunen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Go to sleep. Ruutana has chosen Ennio Morricone - Man With A Harmonica as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jari Kankkunen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kankkunen slips a jab and a cross from Ruutana.
Kankkunen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ruutana rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kankkunen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kankkunen rushes Ruutana and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Kankkunen pulls guard successfully.
Kankkunen keeping moving, preventing Ruutana from controlling successfully.

Kankkunen working for a triangle but Ruutana defends it easily.

Ruutana drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruutana jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruutana postures up in Kankkunen's guard and throws a big left but Kankkunen blocks it.

Kankkunen scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ruutana throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kankkunen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kankkunen is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kankkunen shoots in but no luck this time.
Kankkunen throws a sloppy head kick and Ruutana moves out of range easily.

Ruutana closes the distance and pushes Kankkunen back into the ropes.

Ruutana breaks the clinch.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ruutana.
Nice shot lands for Ruutana.

Kankkunen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ruutana is trying to control the position but Kankkunen postures up.

Ruutana is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Kankkunen frees his head nicely. Oh but Ruutana has switched to an armbar! Kankkunen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
