Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evans (ranked 4320 p4p, 461 weight class) and Julius Biacolo (ranked 4281 p4p, 458 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rashad Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Julius Biacolo!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Biacolo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Biacolo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Evans tries to get to full guard but Biacolo has control of the leg.
Biacolo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Biacolo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Biacolo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Evans takes the fight into the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Biacolo is trying to trip Evans. He has hold of a leg but Evans is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Biacolo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Evans thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Evans escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Biacolo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Evans wants to sweep here but Biacolo controlling him for the moment.
Evans controls Biacolo momentarily but Biacolo frees himself.
Biacolo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Biacolo prevents Evans from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Biacolo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Evans quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Biacolo is looking to advance position but Evans won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans is desperately trying to improve his position but Biacolo has a good base and remains in mount.
Evans tries to lock up and control but Biacolo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Julius Biacolo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Evans tries to counter with a takedown but Biacolo is quick to defend against it.
