Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Katsu Laoka (ranked 2046 p4p, 295 weight class) and Billy Ray Badass (ranked 3113 p4p, 408 weight class). Billy Ray Badass will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badass shoots and misses
and Laoka counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Laoka connects with a looping right hand.

Badass scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Laoka is trying to escape the position but Badass is controlling the position.
Laoka is not content to let Badass control the position.
Badass might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Laoka haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Badass is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Laoka will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Laoka is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Badass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laoka is trying to stand back up.

Laoka trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Laoka slaps away a takedown attempt from Badass, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Badass shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laoka is trying to defend but Badass finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Laoka connects with a body shot that sends Badass's belly button to the back.

Laoka gets caught flat footed, as Badass shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Laoka has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Badass has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Badass is breathing heavily.
Badass tries for a takedown but Laoka manages to get underhooks.
Laoka is pressed up against the cage. Badass has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laoka down to the mat. Laoka avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Laoka connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Laoka moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Katsu Laoka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Badass gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Laoka counters with a slapping leg kick.
Badass is still on wobbly legs! Can Laoka finish him?
Badass takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Badass seems to have recovered his senses.
Laoka pounces like a tiger and cracks Badass with a vicious hook! Badass is down but not out! Laoka follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Katsu Laoka decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
