PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Eaton (ranked 5318 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Rice (ranked 25056 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Eaton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicholas Rice!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rice jabs at Eaton's body.

Rice shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Eaton is trying to defend but Rice finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Eaton tries to roll over but Rice keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rice slows the pace down in half guard.
Eaton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Eaton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Eaton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rice is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Eaton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Eaton pulls Rice in close to prevent any damage.
Rice really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eaton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Eaton is striking off his back. Rice thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Eaton manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Eaton looking to control.
Rice trying to stand up but can't free himself from Eaton's guard.
Eaton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rice's guard.

Eaton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rice avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Eaton lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Eaton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Rice drives through with a takedown into Eaton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rice postures up in Eaton's guard and throws a big left but Eaton blocks it.

Eaton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Eaton is working for a kimura but Rice is defending it quite comfortably.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Eaton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rice has managed to free his arm - good work.

Eaton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rice is trying to control but can't.
Rice makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rice.
Eaton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rice is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That was a close round but I would say that Eduardo Eaton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Eaton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rice to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Rice would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rice is fighting to break Eaton's control of his arms but Eaton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Rice gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nicholas Rice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Rice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Eaton, pushing him back against the cage.
Eaton is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rice is defending well.

Rice works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
