PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Hood (ranked 25010 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Hotdog (ranked 5339 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Hotdog!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hotdog misses with a head kick.

Hotdog fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hood sprawls well initially but Hotdog persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hood is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hotdog escapes and gets back to his feet.
Hotdog should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Hotdog has Hood up against the cage in a clinch.

Hotdog pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hotdog gets control of Hood's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hotdog will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hotdog wants to sweep here but Hood controlling him for the moment.

Hood trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hotdog's guard.

Hotdog is looking for a triangle but Hood pushes his legs off easily.
Hotdog is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hotdog manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Hood breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hotdog takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Hotdog decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hotdog is looking for a kimura but Hood is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hotdog to get the leverage.

Hotdog is controlling the pace.
Hotdog throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hotdog prevents Hood from standing back up.
Hood wants to control but Hotdog is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hotdog has eaten all the pies!
Hotdog not doing much here.
Hotdog working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hood is staying active underneath Hotdog, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hood wants to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hotdog feints and as Hood raises his hands in defense, Hotdog changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hotdog trying to control but Hood is working from the bottom.
Hotdog slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hotdog trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hotdog is working Hood over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hood utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hotdog drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Hotdog is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hood sees it coming and defends easily.

Hotdog stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Hotdog closes the distance and clinches.

Hotdog pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hotdog closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hood quickly recovers to half guard.
Well, if Hotdog is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hood moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hotdog working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Hotdog pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hood is keeping the position for now.
Hotdog lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Hood can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hotdog controls the pace.

Hood is working an open guard so Hotdog takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hotdog takes the fight into the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Hotdog lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hotdog's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hotdog is breathing heavily.
Hotdog is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hotdog lands a couple of elbows.
Hotdog throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hood looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nathan Hotdog has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hotdog throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hood was covering up waiting for the punch and Hotdog finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Hotdog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Hotdog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hood manages to get to full guard.

Hotdog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hood swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hotdog is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hood will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hotdog won't allow Hood to sweep him here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hood keeping moving, preventing Hotdog from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hood shoots in for a takedown but Hotdog shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hotdog gets a takedown into half guard.
Hotdog is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hood avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hotdog.

Hotdog decides to stand and escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Nice sprawl there from Hotdog as Hood shoots in.

Hotdog has Hood up against the cage in a clinch.

Hotdog has clasped his hands together around Hood's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Hotdog stands up and beckons Hood to his feet.

Hotdog drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hood not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hotdog stands up and waves to Hood to follow him.
Hotdog throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hood.


It looks like William Hood has been cut.

Hotdog dives in and scores a takedown into Hood's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nathan Hotdog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hotdog has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
