PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Gok Dok (ranked 6325 p4p, 609 weight class) and Micky Brit (ranked 5727 p4p, 573 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gok Dok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Micky Brit!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dok throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dok looks to throw a body kick
and Brit counters with a nice low kick that buckles Dok's knee momentarily.
Brit has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dok is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Brit misses the shot to the body.
Dok takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Dok blocks the body kick.
Dok throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brit counters with a nice uppercut.
Dok tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brit was well out of range. Poor timing from Dok.
Dok looks to land a combination but Brit avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dok chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brit can pounce on him.
Dok definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Brit is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dok looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Dok throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brit tries to clinch but Dok is having none of it.
Dok takes one to the side of the head.
Brit moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Brit throws a leg kick which misses Dok's front leg but catches the back leg as Dok tries to avoid it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dok darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Brit thuds his shin into the meat of Dok's side.
Dok is breathing heavily.
Dok misses with a few strikes there.
Brit fakes the leg kick and cracks Dok in the body.
Brit cracks the inside of Dok's front leg.
Dok shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Gok Dok has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Brit counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Brit lands with a thumping leg kick.
Brit lands the left hand.
Dok takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Gok Dok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Brit, right into the meat.
Dok just misses with a punch to the body.
Dok goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Dok staying out of range there.
Dok moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Brit connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Dok waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Brit.
A solid leg kick lands there for Brit.

Brit scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dok in his tracks.
Dok throws a right and a left that Brit avoids nicely.
Dok fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Brit is out of range.
Brit feints and then cracks Dok's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dok down.
Dok does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Brit looks like he wants to counter punch here.
No joy there for Dok, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brit throws a push kick but Dok slaps the foot to one side.
Brit misses with a body shot.
Dok turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Brit counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Dok is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Brit tests Dok's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dok closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Good leg kick by Brit there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Dok tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Brit throws a hook but Dok blocks it.
It looked like Dok wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Dok misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Despite the aggression on Brit's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Micky Brit dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Gok Dok's cut.
That's time! Dok's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Brit explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Dok's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result.
Brit lands with a straight right. Dok didn't see that one coming.
Dok steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Brit. That one must have hurt.
Brit swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Dok.
Dok throws a poor cross that misses

and Brit counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brit.
Brit has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Brit scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Dok blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Nice body punch from Brit.
Brit tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dok avoids it.
Brit has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dok breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dok is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Brit.
Dok takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brit takes a swing at Dok's ribcage but misses.
Dok appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dok is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Brit's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Dok takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Dok has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Brit.
Brit throws a body shot but no joy.
Dok thumps Brit with a low kick.
Dok takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Brit keeps Dok at a distance using the push kick.
Brit lands with a hook. Dok tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Gok Dok's cut is getting worse.
Dok will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Dok takes a jab right on the kisser.

Brit misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brit lands with a cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dok takes one to the chin there.
Dok doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Brit fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dok has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Brit feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Dok's calf.

Brit scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Dok to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Brit away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Dok got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!
Micky Brit seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Brit lands a nice looking body shot.

Brit cracks Dok with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Dok is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Dok is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!

Oh Dok is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Brit scores with a kick to the body.
Dok seems to have got his legs back now.
Dok throws a leg kick but Brit moved away.
Brit cracks a nice hook into Dok's ribs.
Dok on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gok Dok's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Brit.
Brit fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Brit scores with a jab. Dok acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Brit connects with a quick right hand that sends Dok tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!
