The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilder swings for the body but Laws moves out of range.
Rick Laws seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wilder tries to sprawl but Laws drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Laws is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wilder is just riding it out for now. Laws eventually gives up the hold.

Laws seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Wilder has recovered full guard.

Laws drops back looking for a leg! Wilder is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wilder manages to kick Laws off! Laws jumps back into Wilder 's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laws is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wilder defends it well.
