Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Hurley (ranked 22807 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Samson (ranked 5186 p4p, 466 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Quinton Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Samson!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samson cracks Hurley with an open hand slap.
Samson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hurley.


It looks like Quinton Hurley has been cut.

Samson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hurley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Samson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samson won't allow Hurley to sweep him here.
Hurley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Samson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hurley dives into side control.

Hurley swings around for an armbar but Samson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hurley's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Samson tries to free his leg and advance position but Hurley is retaining full guard.
Hurley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Samson throws a strike but Hurley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Samson kicks off Hurley and gets to his feet.

Hurley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Samson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Samson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hurley. That did some damage!

Samson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hurley looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Samson pushes Hurley back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Samson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Samson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Samson rushes Hurley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Samson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hurley can't fight it off and eventually Samson manages to take the fight to the floor. Hurley looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hurley really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Hurley has momentary wrist control but Samson slips an elbow through the middle.

Samson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Hurley is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Hurley sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Samson's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hurley slips a nice elbow through Samson's hands, connecting with Samson's forehead.

A looping hook to the body misses from Samson. Hurley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Samson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Hurley seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Samson closes the distance and clinches.
Samson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hurley turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hurley manages to end up in side control.

Samson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Jim Samson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Samson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hurley did well to prevent Samson getting side control.

Samson throws an elbow that misses. Hurley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Samson's guard. Nice move by Hurley!

Hurley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hurley postures up in Samson's guard and throws a big left but Samson blocks it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Samson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hurley's guard.

Jim Samson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Samson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
