PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Camatta (ranked 1884 p4p, 229 weight class) and Nosyaj Rram (ranked 2459 p4p, 278 weight class). Rram has chosen Grace - You Don't Own Me ft. G-Eazy as his entrance music. Nosyaj Rram will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Camatta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 2, fighting out of New York, Nosyaj Rram!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rram pushes Camatta away with a front kick.
Rram scores with a kick to the midsection.

Camatta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Camatta is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rram will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Rram tries to bench press Camatta off him but Camatta keeps the position.

Camatta thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rram is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rram bucks up and tries to throw Camatta off but instead Camatta has got his back!

Rram trying to control the position but Camatta manages to sink in the hooks.
Camatta has good solid back control here.
Rram looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rram has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Rram tries to break free.
Camatta is not going to allow Rram to sit and survive in this position.
What can Rram do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Camatta is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Rram trying to control the hands but Camatta won't let him.
Rram staying busy and making it hard for Camatta to control.
Rram is trying to get back to his feet but Camatta has full control of the position and if anything, Rram has just worked his way into a worse spot.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Camatta has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rram's body.
Rram is in bad spot here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice sprawl there from Rram as Camatta shoots in.
Camatta tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rram swivels and escapes.
Rram fails to land with a series of punches.
Camatta shoots in looking for a takedown but Rram manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Camatta's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Camatta. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rram misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rram kicks off Camatta and gets to his feet.
Rram defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Camatta.
Rram let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Rram lands a nice looking body shot.
Nosyaj Rram seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rram sizes up Camatta with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Rram cracks the inside of Camatta's front leg.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rram. Camatta does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Camatta counters with a shoot takedown. Rram fights it but they end up in guard.

Camatta won't allow Rram to sweep him here.
Camatta controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rram tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rram is trying to control the position but Camatta postures up.
Camatta is pushing down on Rram's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rram is fighting to maintain full guard but Camatta has managed to sneak the leg through.
Camatta tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rram knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rram wants to get back to his feet.
Camatta content to control rather than advance.
Camatta is looking to take a break and control but Rram is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rram misses with a two punch combination.
Camatta half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Rram throws a nice looking combination but Camatta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nosyaj Rram showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Camatta shoots in and drives through. Rram sprawls well.

Rram fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rram.
Rram tries to land a leg kick but Camatta saw it coming and moves away.
Rram swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rram connects with a body shot that sends Camatta's belly button to the back.

Camatta darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Rram has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Camatta is on him like a limpet, forcing Rram back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rram wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Rram breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nosyaj Rram seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Camatta shoots in but Rram avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rram keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Rram throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Camatta keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Camatta shoots in for a double leg but Rram sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Camatta darts in looking for a takedown but Rram gets double underhooks and turns Camatta into the cage.

Despite the aggression on Rram's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Rram ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Rram leaves Camatta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rram misses with a wild combination.
Camatta will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rram is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Camatta dodges the punch combination from Rram.
Camatta tries for a takedown but Rram sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rram throws a right hand that Camatta ducks under and follows up with a left that Camatta also avoids with ease.
Rram tries to land a front kick but Camatta steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Camatta changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nosyaj Rram is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rram stuffs the takedown attempt from Camatta. Camatta gets slowly back to his feet.
Rram slaps away a takedown attempt from Camatta, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rram throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Camatta shoots for a double leg takedown but Rram sprawls well. He's pushed Camatta's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A nice inside leg kick there by Rram. That's going to slow Camatta down.
Danga de danga de dang - Rram scores with a four punch combination!
Rram looks to land a combination. Camatta sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Camatta drops his hands momentarily and Rram takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Good leg kick by Rram there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Camatta scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rram sneaks out the side door and pushes Camatta away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Rram shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Camatta eats them both and turns towards Rram to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Camatta shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rram napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Rram tries to improve position but can't.
Rram wants to control but Camatta postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Camatta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rram keeps working.
Rram gets back to half guard.
Rram has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rram moves into full guard.
Rram looking to hit a scissor sweep but Camatta is one step ahead there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nosyaj Rram comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rram has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
