Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Minerva (ranked 1837 p4p, 209 weight class) and Sven Kristian Nielsen (ranked 1760 p4p, 198 weight class). Minerva comes to the cage accompanied by My Pal. Nielsen has chosen Wardruna - Fehu as his entrance music. Scott Minerva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minerva throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nielsen sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Scott Minerva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Minerva, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nielsen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Minerva throws out a loose jab but Nielsen uses good head movement to avoid it.
And Nielsen tries to counter it with a takedown but Minerva pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Nielsen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nielsen slips a straight right by Minerva.

Nielsen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Minerva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nielsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Minerva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Minerva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nielsen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Minerva is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Nielsen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Minerva throws the left hand but Nielsen avoids the punch easily.

Nielsen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Minerva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Minerva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Minerva fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nielsen manages to avoid it.
Nielsen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Minerva feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nielsens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That has opened up Sven Kristian Nielsen's cut even more.

Minerva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nielsen throws a hook to the side of Minerva's head but Minerva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Minerva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Minerva, as that shot connected.
Minerva throws out a powerful jab.
Nice takedown defense from Minerva. No joy for Nielsen on that attempt.

Oooooh!!! Minerva has knocked Nielsen down with a huge combo! Minerva steps away and waves a wobbly Nielsen back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Nielsen is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Minerva cracks Nielsen with a hook to the temple - Nielsen is on wobbly legs here! Minerva swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Nielsen falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Minerva wins by TKO!
