Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Da Silva!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Da Silva misses with a double jab

and Workman counters with a shoot takedown. Da Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
Da Silva wants to get back to his feet but Workman passes into half guard.
Da Silva is trying to stand up here but Workman is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Workman stands up and beckons Da Silva to join him on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Da Silva throws a right and a left that Workman avoids nicely.
Da Silva throws a series of punches but Workman moves out of range.

Da Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Workman sprawls well initially but Da Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Workman moves into full guard.

Workman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Da Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Workman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Da Silva is working away from the top position though.
Workman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Da Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Workman has managed to free his arm - good work.

Workman has one foot on Da Silva's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Da Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Workman is looking to counter the offense by Da Silva and move into the clinch.

Da Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Da Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Workman darts in looking for a takedown but Da Silva gets double underhooks and turns Workman into the cage.

Workman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Da Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Workman will probably get the nod.

Da Silva has hold of Workman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Workman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Workman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Da Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Workman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jose Da Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Da Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Workman tries to pull guard but Da Silva won't allow it.
Da Silva keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Workman's efforts to push away.
Da Silva blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Workman tries to circle away but Da Silva has him pinned against the cage.
Da Silva prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Workman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Workman stops a takedown attempt from Da Silva.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joey Workman.
I think Workman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
