Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Smith (ranked 1844 p4p, 225 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 2509 p4p, 287 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smith stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it.
Johnson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.
Johnson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Smith!
Johnson takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Johnson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Smith has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Smith tries to roll but Johnson sticks to his back.
Smith manages to reverse the position and now he's in Johnson's guard. Nice work there by Smith.
Johnson has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle.

Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Smith and the ref steps in to end the fight! Smith can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
