And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alviso misses with a double jab
and Monkey counters with a nice leg kick.
Alviso is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Alviso fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Monkey misses.
Monkey connects with a leg kick. Alviso looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Monkey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alviso.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monkey leaves Alviso with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Monkey steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Alviso misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Monkey looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Alviso throws a body shot but no joy.
Monkey follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Alviso throws a sloppy head kick and Monkey moves out of range easily.
Monkey lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
An inside leg kick lands from Monkey.
Alviso jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alviso uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Monkey has time to react.
Monkey turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Demon Monkey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alviso throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Monkey's waist but Monkey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alviso off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome Alviso. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Monkey defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alviso.
